Born in Santiago, Chile and after graduating as a Theater Major, Nicole decided to travel to Spain to study Audiovisual Communication at the Complutense University of Madrid. Once there, she learned the technical tools to tell stories but also developed a deep vocation for social inclusion. She actively worked for diversity and the representation of the most marginalized communities, carrying out social work shifts with undocumented immigrants in vulnerable situations and devising educational programs for children and adults of the neuro-diverse community. In this exercise, she had the opportunity to develop a new perspective on life, defining and reinforcing her point of view as an artist, teacher and especially as a person.

In 2012, she moved to New York, where she focused her career on film and video production while teaching in a bilingual and art oriented daycare. Co-founder of the program Let’s Make Movies!, filmmaking workshop series for kids, she provides an active, bilingual and creative learning experience through filmmaking.

Her first documentary feature film, The Journey of Monalisa (2019), premiered in IDFA, Netherlands and DOC NYC, and was recognized in 2021 as the Best Latinx Film in the United States by Cinema Tropical (NY).

Today, she continues to work on education and audiovisual projects with the intention of strengthening the socio-cultural movements promoted by Latin American communities in the United States. nicole@micasitabk.org
