Isabel grew up in Michigan with her parents, older brother, and Labrador retrievers. She moved to New York City in 2024. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Oberlin College, and her experience with children spans over 10 years. Language immersion has long been a part of her life — when she was 9 years her family spent a year in Geneva, Switzerland where she and her brother attended a French-speaking school and absorbed a new language and culture. In 2022, she began volunteering as a babysitter for immigrant families resettling in Ohio. These people became family to her — she felt a true connection to the Spanish language and was determined to improve. A year later, she traveled to central and southern Spain for several months where she lived with host families. It was a life-changing experience exploring the country, hearing the stories of the people she met, and learning about their traditions as she shared her own.
Outside of teaching, Isabel is a documentary filmmaker with a focus on archival histories and personal narratives. She works actively as an archival researcher helping filmmakers find the visual material to bring their stories to life. She is also a writer and musician and loves to sing, play the guitar, and piano.
Isabel treasures the creative, open-hearted spirit of Mi Casita and feels grateful to be apart of such a beautiful community.
